each year, youtube creates an annual impact report with the research and analysis assistance of oxford economics (oe). the report is disseminated to key opinion formers like government officials and policy makers. it’s designed to illustrate all the ways that youtube provides value to stakeholders, creators, and viewers. in 2021, i worked with felix to create the us 2020 reports: a 40-page impact report and two-page executive summary, both made up of statistics, quotes, and “creator spotlight” case studies—which i wrote from an exhaustive repository of raw content. the project was such a success that youtube asked us to take on more responsibility the following year, so in 2022 we started from square one. we developed copy framework guidelines and copy templates from scratch, educating future writers and designers in other countries or regions around the world on how to create a localized version of these reports. and, once again, i developed copy for the us impact report and two-page executive summary.
